This nationally recognised unit of competency provides aesthetic professionals with the essential knowledge and skills to maintain infection prevention in all areas associated with dermal and cosmetic injectable procedures. Learning focuses on current state or territory hygiene regulations and the key principles of infection prevention in a cosmetic medical context.

(For those just entering the aesthetics field/ No prior work experience).
There are no pre-requisites to apply for this course, however this course is most suited for those working in a dermal and/or health setting.
The unit/course is delivered over 4 weeks requiring 2 to 3 hrs of study per week, though can be fast-tracked if time allows.
The theory component is delivered online and practical/clinical component is delivered at an AACDS Student Clinic (Melbourne, Sydney and Perth) or at the student’s workplace, providing assessment conditions can be met.
Successful completion of this certificate allows for an assessment only pathway for units in the following nationally accredited qualifications:
- Infection control and prevention terms
- Standard and additional precautions
- Waste management
- Occupational health and safety
- Risk assessment
- Needling stick injury
- Micro-organisms
- Chain of infection
- Modes of transport/transmission
- Disinfection and sterilisation
