Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate | Laser Safety Officers Certificate – Fast Track
This is a theory-based course, which focuses on the clinical aspects of IPL and Laser treatment and the required safety standards as outlined by the Radiation Safety Act. The unit is government accredited and recognised by the two main Laser authorities; QLD Radiation Health and the Radiological Council of WA as an official Radiation/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate. Upon completion of this unit, it will lead to the issue of the IPL/Laser’s Safety Officer’s Certificate, it will not lead to the issue of a full, Nationally Recognised Qualification. People completing this course will achieve a Statement of Attainment.

This course provides a fast track option for candidates who are not interested in a further learning pathway in a nationally accredited qualification.
Beginner
(For those just entering the aesthetics field/ No prior work experience).

This is a self-paced learning course which is delivered via online lectures, providing you with a flexible learning approach. The curriculum consists of three online lectures. Assessment is based on a multiple choice question exam. The time commitment typically required is 2 to 3 hours per week over a 6-week period.

- Necessary as a prerequisite for laser licensing in Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, with other Australian states soon to follow in a similar manner

Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate – Full course
This course is a nationally accredited unit of competency (CDNLBT02 Analyse laser and light-based therapies in a cosmetic medical context) and provides a further learning pathway and credit transfer into a nationally accredited qualification delivered through AACDS.
Intermediate
(Has 2-3 years of work experience in skin and dermal health and has undertaken at least in beauty therapy).

This is delivered via online lectures, providing you with a flexible learning approach. The curriculum consists of six online lectures and tutorial activities. Assessment is based on four clinical studies, tutorial activities and a final online assessment consisting of 80 multiple choice and short answer questions. The time commitment typically required is 4 to 6 hours per week over a 9-week period.
This is only available online. Please Note: This is a stand-alone unit though is also delivered as a core unit in the Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science, the Graduate Diploma of Cosmetic Nursing and the Graduate Diploma of Dermal Therapies.
