LASER SAFETY OFFICER'S CERTIFICATE
The AACDS laser safety certificate is the minimum qualification required to use Class 3B or Class 4 lasers and IPL devices for cosmetic treatments across Australia. Recognised by the Radiological Council of WA and QLD Radiation Health, it is a mandatory prerequisite for laser licensing in WA, QLD and TAS and is required by most insurers operating in other states. Fully online and open to practitioners in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and across the country, AACDS offers two enrolment pathways depending on your goals and experience.
The fast-track option is a theory-based course focusing on the clinical aspects of IPL and laser treatment and the safety standards outlined in the Radiation Safety Act. It is government accredited and recognised by both QLD Radiation Health and the Radiological Council of WA as an official Radiation/Laser Safety Officer's Certificate. This pathway suits professionals who are not looking to continue into a nationally accredited qualification.
The Laser Safety Officer's Certificate is a nationally accredited unit of competency (CDNLBT03 Analyse laser and light-based therapies in a cosmetic medical context). Also theory-based and focused on the clinical aspects of IPL and laser treatment under the Radiation Safety Act, it is government accredited and recognised by both laser authorities. On completion, it leads to the issue of an official IPL/Laser Safety Officer's Certificate and provides credit transfer into a nationally accredited qualification delivered through AACDS.
If you're looking to specialise further, AACDS also offers a tattoo removal course for practitioners wanting to build on their laser skills
