The 52850WA Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science is an undergraduate dermal therapy course developed for candidates wanting to work as a qualified Dermal Therapist in a cosmetic medical practice or dermal clinic. The curriculum covers the knowledge and skills required to perform a range of dermal therapy procedures within a cosmetic medical context. This course is an ideal alternative to Beauty Therapy as it caters for candidates who wish to provide results-driven procedures and work alongside other allied health and cosmetic medical professionals.

  • Completion of year 12 or mature-age entry
  • 1000-word essay on the practice of cosmetic medicine and dermal therapies in Australia (please click here for more information on writing your essay)
  • Candidates from a non-academic background MUST complete a Literacy & Numeracy test
  • Additional requirements may be determined upon the pre-enrolment interview
  • Full-time: approx. 27 hrs/week over 10 months
  • Part-time: approx. 15 hrs/week over 20 months
  • Single unit: approx. 6 hrs/week over a maximum of 3 years
  • Two-week full-time block for clinical competencies in Dermal Therapies
  • Online, with practical training available in Sydney, Perth, Gold Coast, and Melbourne.

On completion of the 52850WA Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science graduates will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and develop additional skills in dermatoscopy and integrated health and dermatology within the 52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science.

Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatments



CDNSCP02 -
Evaluate surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures



CDNPPC02 -
Analyse the principles of psychology in a cosmetic medical context



CDNMCP01 -
Manage and promote the cosmetic practice


CDNPLT01 - Provide laser and light-based procedures in a cosmetic medical context



CDNPCM02 -
Provide clinical microdermabrasion procedures in a cosmetic medical context



CDNPSN02 -
Provide skin needling procedures in a cosmetic medical context



CDNPCP02 -
Provide chemical resurfacing procedures in a cosmetic medical context

On completion of the 52850WA Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science, graduates will get access to the following:

  • Copy of certificate of year 12 OR proof of age over 21
  • Copy of of a national certificate IV qualification OR completion of our online LLN test
  • 1000-word essay on dermal therapies within Australia (essay instructions available to download here

It is compulsory for you to have a USI and we encourage you to apply for it as soon as you can and preferably BEFORE your enrolment is finalised. 

Please note: If you do not hold a Year 12 Certificate / mature age entry or hold a national Certificate IV, you may be required to sit an online Language, Literacy test (LLN) test. The requirement to sit this test will be established on a case-by-case basis. You will be notified if this is a requirement once your application has been processed.
