Course Overview

Formulating cosmetic and personal care products can be as varied as the companies who offer them. The Diploma of Personal Care Formulation has been developed to provide a comprehensive approach to teaching the formulation of safe, stable and efficacious personal care products for the hair, hands, body and face.

It also covers the development of products from the concept stage and through reverse engineering. Learners are taught how to prepare a variety of personal care products, adapt formulations to suit organisational requirements and develop products based on the latest industry advances.

This qualification is recognised on the AQF as a Level 5 Diploma

NAT11268005 – plan microbiological control of cosmetic ingredients and manufacturing environment

Module 2

NAT11268007 – Select rheology modifiers for personal care formulas

NAT11268008 – Select lipids for personal care formulas

NAT11268009 – Select fragrances or essential oils for personal care formulas

COURSE FEES

VET Student Loan

The VET Student Loans (VSL) program is an Australian Government loan program that assists eligible students enrolled in approved courses to pay their tuition fees. If eligible, the department may approve a VET Student Loan for an approved course. The department will pay the loan cap amount directly to your approved course provider.

The 11268NAT Diploma of Personal Care Formulation is approved for VET Student Loans.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Training and Assessment

This course comprises of 18 downloadable electronic texts provided as part of the enrolment package
On-line lectures to guide and support learning and activities within the texts
Guidance on use of raw materials to work through various practical activities and prepare assessment samples
6 written assessments (workbooks) comprising theoretical questions and workplace simulated scenarios
1 practical assessment workbook and submission of practical samples with relevant stability and technical information
Hands on practical workshops to consolidate skills in development and formulation of various products
Online exam

What you'll need

You will need to purchase or have access to basic equipment to make the practical samples and complete the workshops during the course. A list of basic equipment and suppliers will be provided to you, some things you may have at home or in your workplace (such as hotplates, bowls, spoons, whisks, simple scales) others will be easily purchased online following our recommendations (such as disposable pipettes, pH strips, demineralised water).
