Lecturer for Unit 2.1 Cosmetic Science Surgical and Non-Surgical

Karen began her nursing career in 1991 after completing her university training as a Registered Nurse at Curtin University. After Graduation she knew she was interested in working in the area of the operating room. Karen developed her professional skills in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery by working in a variety of private and public hospitals both in Perth and London.

Upon retuning to Australia she made a decision to further her education and completed a Degree in Marketing. After graduating with her marketing qualification Karen worked for a pharmaceutical company, initially as a G.P representative then ultimately promoted into a Senior Consultant Role. In this position she liased with Senior Psychiatrists and Key Opinion Leaders organising educational meetings and training sessions. Encompassed in this role she also provided media training for key opinion Leaders.

Moving to Singapore Karen took up a role as marketing manager for a large international organization, expanding their operations in India and Mainland China.

Returning to Australia in early 2008 Karen was keen on taking on a role that involved both education and cosmetic nursing. In this dual role at Academy Facial Plastics, Karen practises as an RN working with Dr Oates in the operating theatre and providing patients with pre and post surgical care and advise.

As a Lecturer for AACDS Karen is currently teaching unit 2.1 Cosmetic Science Surgical and Non-surgical and working on future curriculum development for AACDS.
